Create a Sculpture or Ornament From a Child's Drawing

If you're looking for an gift idea for someone who is hard to buy for? Daryl's Rock and Wire Works can make a custom sculpture or ornament for you. You can view the gallery on our website.

Recently, Daryl took a child's drawing of a wedding and turned it into the sculpture you see at the left.

A great gift for a parent or grandparent would be to turn their child or grandchild's drawing into an ornament or sculpture. Here's how:

1- Scan or take a picture of the drawing.

2- E-mail it to: contactus (at) darylsrockandwireworks (dot) com. (Replace the (at) with @ and (dot) with .)

3- Let us know if you would like the drawing to be made into a sculpture or ornament.

4- Our artist, Daryl, will review the drawing to see if it will be possible to make it.

5- If Daryl can duplicate the drawing, we will send you a price estimate. The price will depend on the detail you want, and the type of rock for the base, if you want a sculpture. A single figure (like one of the ones pictured) will likely cost $24-$30.

6-We will post a link where you can pay for the sculpture or ornament of the child's drawing.

7-Daryl will build the sculpture. Once he is done we will e-mail you a picture for your approval.

8- The finished custom sculpture or ornament will be shipped once you have approved the picture.

An ornament made from a child's drawing will take 3-4 days to make. A sculpture will take 6-8 days. Once an order has been shipped, it typically takes 2-3 days to arrive. If you have any questions about our custom sculpture process, please feel free to Contact Us.

Unique Gifts for Cyclists, Animal Lovers, Golfers, Fishermen, and More

Daryl of Daryl's Rock and Wire Works doesn't just make cake toppers. He actually started his business by making sculptures.

Below is a gallery of some of the sculptures Daryl has made for people. If you're looking for a unique gift for someone you can contact us with your ideas.

This wire-frame basset hound was made for a customer who was giving it to a friend whose basset hound had died. Daryl made it by looking at a picture of the dog.
This was made in memory of someone who loved riding ATVs.
This was made to be used as a gift for a cyclist couple.
This was made as a unique golf trophy

"Daddy Only Thinks He's Going Fishing"
Daryl got a request for this sculpture that he first carved out of wax, had it bronzed, then fitted it to a rock based he'd
prepared.

Since all the sculptures at Daryl's Rock and Wire Works are handmade, please allow plenty of time for all custom, bronze sculpture orders.

Tandem-Themed Wedding on a Budget

Weddings are expensive, but they don't have to be. You can have a beautiful, fun wedding without emptying your bank account. Here are some tips for a tandem-themed wedding on a budget.

Cake:
Don't go for a traditional layered wedding cake. Lots of people have used cupcakes or single layer cakes. To save money have someone you know make it, or buy several different types of single layer cakes from somewhere like Walmart or a grocery store. Here's a link to some great single layer cake ideas:
http://brideorama.com/single-tier-wedding-cakes-inspiration/

Cake Toppers:
Add personality to your cake. You don't want some boring cake that everyone else has had. A way to do this is to add a cake topper. Even if you don't want something big like a Daryl's Rock and Wire Works tandem. You can get a small cake topper to go on the side of your cake like our small bride and groom hikers or you could put our four inch bikes on a lower layer of the cake.

Daryl's Rock and Wire Works make plenty of custom orders, so if you don't see just the right thing for you, contact us. Custom cake toppers usually don't cost anymore than our regular cake toppers.

To save even more money on your cake you can rent at cake topper from Daryl's Rock and Wire Works for $7.00.

Add special touches to your cake topper like pets. Or tell a story with your cake topper of how you met.

If you don't want a cake topper but still want to display a bride and groom on a tandem, you can purchase a cake topper mounted on a display base.

Flowers:

This is one area where you can save some major money. I have one word for you: Costco. Costco has some beautiful flower arrangements in vases that would work great for tables. The best part it they only cost $19. Add a tandem square or flower spike to one of these and you'd have a great tandem-themed flower arrangement.
Once again, to save some money rent or ask for a discount on bulk orders.

Decorations:

Here's where you can really have some fun. Go to yard sales or discount stores and pick up some old bikes. You can use the wheels, sprockets, and chains to decorate. Here's a link to a great sprocket decoration:

Another idea is to use the Daryl's Rock and Wire Works bike picture holder to display pictures of your biking adventures. The great thing about these is they'd make a good gift for your guests to take home.

Here are some pictures of other tandem wedding decoration ideas. Remember many of these can be rented.

Go to the Daryl's Rock and Wire Works rental page for details on rentals.

Photos:

You'll probably want a pro to take your main wedding photos, but for the reception have a friend take some pictures. Another great idea is to rent a photo booth and if you have a tandem-themed wedding you can even add a tandem logo to the pictures.
If renting a photo booth is too expensive make one. Get a back drop, a bike (if you're having a bike-themed wedding), and a basket full of other props. If you want your guests to take their pictures home right then, get a polaroid camera. You can buy one for about $60-$70 on amazon which is a lot cheaper than renting a photo booth.

Ordering from Daryl's Rock and Wire Works:

Display Your Cake Topper

It is that time of year when Daryl's Rock and Wire Works get their new display rocks in. Display rocks are a great way to show off your cake topper after you have used it at the wedding.
A lot of people get confused about how the display rocks work so I will explain.
First, choose your cake topper from Daryl's Rock and Wire Works Store.
Next, choose a display rock that will work with your cake topper. Display rocks that will work will be shown under your chosen cake topper in "You May Also Like." You can also find out which display rocks will work by reading the description of the display rock.
Your cake topper and display rock will be shipped not mounted so you can use your cake toppers first.

When you're ready to mount your cake topper on the display rock you can watch this instructional video. Although the video shows a bike the idea is the same for all cake toppers. You break the pins on the cake topper at the notch and glue the cake topper in the pre-drilled holes on the rock.
Now your cake topper is ready to display.

You can find both the cake toppers and display rocks in the store at www.darylsrockandwireworks.com.
